HELP US

Ken would like to thank everyone who has and is going to take part in the Global Search for Andrew.

Already, we have had an amazing response and help to get the word out from mainstream media, Missing Persons organisations, individuals and corporate, medium and small sized companies all over the world.

Andrew could be in any part of the world. This is why it's important to spread the posters, email and internet search as far and as widely as possible and to keep Andrew's profile high through as many mediums as possible.

It doesn't matter how many people you send the emails to, the important thing is to ask them to send them on. It may take only one person to open one email or to see one poster in a shop to recognise Melinda and Andrew.

Many thanks again for everyone's on-going efforts to find Andrew safe and well, and to have him returned home as quickly as possible.

The ways in which you can help:

  • Join the Global Search for Andrew Email Campaign.  Send the email to friends, family, and colleagues - all the people you know in your contacts list in your own country and in other countries around the world, ask them to also send it on. Someone somewhere may recognise Andrew and Melinda from an email you sent.

  • Place Andrew’s Missing Persons Poster up in public places in your local communities.  Please see the Translations page for the poster in other languages.

  • Join Andrews’ specific web-pages and send an invitation to all in your contacts lists. This will increase the exposure of Andrew’s disappearance internationally. See related links.

  • Send the Newsletter to friends, family, and colleagues - all the people you know in your contacts list around the world, ask them to also send it on. This will keep Andrew’s profile high and his situation fresh in the public eye.

  • Forward suggestions on how we can increase the awareness of the public in finding Andrew through the Guest Book or the Contact Us Page. All ideas are welcome.

  • Talk about Andrews’ abduction to the people around you .

  • Let us know if you would like to display a bumper sticker on your car or distribute these to your friends, colleagues, local shops etc. We have the bumper stickers in several languages. Please email Ken at kenthompson@fastmail.fm give him your address details and the numbers you would like and he will send them to you.

The articles and websites on the related links page highlight the effects of parental child abductions on children and the parents and other family members who are left behind. This is a form of child abuse and everything that can be done to prevent it from happening should be done. We do not tolerate other forms of child abuse so why is our society so complacent about this one?

These types of abductions are becoming more and more common as international boundaries become less secure and as air travel becomes less expensive.

The victims are forced to pay a terrible emotional price throughout their lives because of the irresponsible actions of one parent and the actions of their misguided supporters. The long-term psychological effects are well documented through many studies involving children who have been abducted.

We must work together to do everything we can to find the children who are the victims of this terrible phenomenon that has been labelled by the legal profession as 'the scourge of our jurisdiction'.  Many of the links on the related links page are from websites of organisations such as Forever Searching that endeavour to help those who have had a child either go missing or be abducted. Their aim is to find these children safe and sound by increasing the awareness of the efforts to find these missing loved ones. With the ever-changing world of the internet, these organisations have found a way to distribute and widen access to people internationally who can be gatherers of information and the eyes and ears of the community regarding the whereabouts of these children. The fact that there has been a marked increase in the number of these types of websites highlights that child abduction is an ever-growing phenomenon – a sad position for our society to be in today.

Companies and individuals around the world are helping us directly by ensuring that their clients, suppliers and others are becoming involved in the global campaign to find Andrew. They have ensured that hundreds of thousands of people are aware of Andrew’s plight through posting the information on their websites, newsletters and magazines.

Please let us know if your organisation, business, or charity would like to do this as well and we will acknowledge your efforts on Andrew’s website.
