Andrew John THOMPSON, now aged five, was abducted from Australia on 24^th April 2008 by his mother Melinda Margaret THOMPSON (also known as Melinda Margaret STRATTON).  

 

Melinda and Andrew flew to Frankfurt, Germany. From there they disappeared without trace and could now be anywhere in the world.

 

Andrew’s abduction took place after a leading child and family psychiatrist found that Melinda has an underlying mental state that affects her judgement, particularly in relation to Andrew.

 

The psychiatrist said Melinda’s condition can be addressed with professional counselling but she refused to accept the psychiatrist’s findings and instead fled the country with Andrew.

 

Because of alarming concerns raised by the psychiatrist about the potential for harm to Andrew and/or self-harm to Melinda, the Family Court of Australia took the rare step in December 2008 of issuing a Publication Order to enable Andrew’s father to assist the Australian authorities and Interpol with the search for Andrew through an international media and multi-media campaign.

 

Since December 2008, Andrew’s Dad (Ken) together with a number of international search organisations that help find missing children have embarked on a massive search to find Andrew through the Global Search for Andrew Email Campaign.

 

This campaign has been supported through national and international media coverage, people putting up flyers, banners and posters within local communities around the world, and coverage on many missing person websites, blogs and internet sites.

 

Facebook; Youtube and Twitter sites have also been established for Andrew and they’ve had many thousands of hits.

 

Many thousands of people have joined these sites from around the world and then sent on information about Andrew to their own families; friends, and work colleagues in many different languages as part of the global effort to find Andrew.

 

This website is part of the campaign and provides a central point for information and resources that people can use to help Ken and the authorities find Andrew.

 

The Australian Government is also conducting an extensive international search for Andrew in collaboration with Interpol.

 

Andrew’s abduction is a criminal offence in Australia under the Family Law Act and the Crimes Act and a warrant has been issued for Melinda’s arrest.

 

Interpol alerts have been issued for Andrew and Melinda in 187 countries.

 

Andrew and Melinda are Australian citizens who are travelling on Australian passports.

 

A court-ordered warning stating that Melinda is not to be approached and that local authorities are to be notified of any information about Andrew and/or Melinda has been included in all the material provided for downloading from this website.
