Ken Thopmpson (Andrew's Dad) | A small number of family members gathered just north of Sydney (Australia) on 1st May to celebrate Andrew's maternal grandmother's 90th birthday. Andrew is Edwina's only biological grandchild. Andrew was born when Edwina was 85 & her birthday present that year was a framed ultrasound picture of Andrew, which Melinda & I gave to her to show her what her birthday gift was. She cried when she realised what it was. Edwina loves Andrew more than most people can imagine. Edwina & Melinda got on extremely well before Andrew's abduction. For some inexplicable reason, before she abducted Andrew, Melinda claimed that Edwina did not love Andrew. This was only one of many false beliefs Melinda formed shortly before she took Andrew away from everyone who knows him & loves him. Any grandmother would know that Edwina loves her only grandchild. An empty chair was placed at the table for Andrew at Edwina's birthday lunch. Another one was there for Melinda as well. Edwina wants both of them to come back. Some of the photos that were taken at Edwina's 90th birthday lunch have been posted to Andrew's Facebook Cause. The flowers are from Andrew. 3 May 2010 - Sydney, Australia Ken Thompson (Andrew's Dad) | 24th April marked two years since the abduction & disappearance of Andrew by his mother (Melinda). 25th April was Melinda's birthday. This date is also a public holiday in Australia. I used to tell Melinda her birthday was so important that we celebrated it with a national holiday. 25th April 2010 (Melinda's birthday) was the inaugural International Parental Alienation Awareness Day. This day is held to raise awareness to the extraordinary lengths some parents take to prevent their children from having a proper relationship with their other parent. The abduction of a child by one parent for the purpose of preventing that child from having a relationship with its other parent is the most extreme form of parental alienation. It is held one day after Andrew's abduction & on the same day as Melinda's birthday. It's a very sad sequence of dates. 26 April 2010 - Sydney, Australia Ken Thompson (Andrew's Dad) | I am now working closely with the AFP in Australia; the NPIA in the UK; the International Center for Missing & Exploited Children in the USA, & with several other international missing children organisations involved in International Missing Children's Day. Because of the unusual circumstances surrounding Andrew's abduction & disappearance & the absence of any news about Andrew's welfare or whereabouts for two years, he will be featured in the campaigns in each of the participating countries. International media is also being planned in countries that aren't actually participating officially. Other high-profile international events are being planned for the lead-up to IMCD, as well as after IMCD. More information will be posted on this & other sites over the next few weeks. Previous IMCD campaigns have been very successful in locating missing children around the world. 13 April 2010 - Sydney, Australia Stephanie | I understand that there are nine countries involved with International Missing Childrens Day and Australia is a key organiser this year. It's fantastic that the Australian Federal Police have asked that Andrew be featured this year. It will mean media interest both here and internationally. Each day more and more people are involved in the search for Andrew. This special day will raise the profile of international parental child abduction even higher. 12 April 2010 - Australia Miss Maddie | It is wonderful that Andrew will be featured in the upcoming campaign both here in Australia and internationally. It is great that organisations like the Australian Federal Police are totally supportive of Andrew's cause. 8 April 2010 - Australia kazzie kennedy | Your dad is a wonderful man Andrew he is a good and decent man and he has many helping him to find you and bring you home, I am one of many who will never stop searching, I have your picture on my website and now I have posted your video, Melinda my website alone attracts many visitors from here and internationally so once again I beg of you to do what is in Andrews best interest as the world is now watching please come home and let justice take its course and let your son begin the long process of healing as Melinda the longer you remain hidden the more emotional trauma you are causing your son. IMCD is an annual event that raises awareness to missing children around the world. This year it's theme is International Parental Child Abduction (IPCA). Andrew will be included in this very large international campaign & will be featured in all participating countries. More information will be posted on this site about this event & about some of the international supporting events as the date draws closer. 8 April 2010 - Sydney, Australia Ken Thompson (Andrew's Dad) | On Easter Saturday, Channel 9 in Australia aired the Tropfest documentary titled "Every Second Weekend" . This documentary includes a piece about Andrew and ends with Andrew's website address. The documentary was aired nationally to an estimated audience of several million people. Since being shown at Tropfest to an audience of several hundred thousand people & again on Channel 9 there has been a big increase in the numbers of people visiting the site. The international multi-media campaign for Andrew will continue until he is found & many new initiatives are being planned as part of the Global Search for Andrew Campaign. Many thanks to Channel 9 for airing the documentary & to the thousands of people around the world who are now involved in some way with the campaign.
